Can a body be buried without a casket?
Yes. No state law requires the use of a casket for burial. A person can be directly interred in the earth with or without a casket, or in a shroud, however individual cemeteries have their own regulations. Maplewood Cemetery requires a casket and vault in all parts of our cemetery except The Grove.
